Because Milroe is a more limited quarterback than McCarthy.

Maybe. Seemed like a bad coaching job too though. Everyone has seen Milroe all year and Bama's staff had a month to figure out other ways to get the ball to playmakers. The best they could do was that jet sweep to whoever that wide receiver was.

He's not a very smart football player. His growth in-season was due to the sideline taking over more of his job pre-snap and their failure in this game was overreacting to the sign-stealing concerns and putting more of it back on him thinking a month of prep would be enough to get him ready for one game.

He may be an alright student but he's not football smart. I don't think he's really invested in being a great quarterback and thinks his arm cannon and legs are enough.

The story is Bama was so concerned with Michigan stealing signals, they had the center adjusting plays, reading the defense. Milroe can’t do it all. He runs the play signaled from the sideline and can’t adjust or set protections.
