Michael Vandervelde a Michigan man is head ref today. His father also has a deep, long history of officiating in Michigan.

You called it an x factor, as if it will play a significant role in the game. I don't like when people whine about referees before the game has even started.

“X” is just a variable in the game. I have no idea if there will be any shenanigans or not. But the head ref plays an important roll on final calls and reviews. I am not pre-game blaming any ref for anything. BUT if an obvious call is not made or overturned…who knows.
