Many took the position that 4th and 31 wasn’t that relevant because it didn’t have playoff implications. So if Bama wins the National Championship, I can only presume that everyone will acknowledge it as the greatest regular season play of all time

I'd argue the play where the FSU QB got hurt had more playoff implications.
Bama got in based on controversy to no surprise.

I don’t know, Colorado’s regular season “5th-and-goal” is a pretty clutch play for a title winner.
