30 years ago or so, Erk Russell era Georgia Southern (Statesboro) was "the" leading talk of the town in the south on natural Bermuda/high suction drainage to pull it dry even after heavy rains. I don't remember the specifics, I just remember the admiration of the old guys talking about what Georgia Southern had accomplished. These were old school real grass guys, and they were football guys.

Yes, Ga Sou went artificial about 8 years ago, but that's because I think they couldn't maintain the cost of the excellent science they'd be doing.

Division II, high school, 1-AA, yeah, I understand the monetary advantage of going Field Turf. I don't blame them at all.

SEC schools? Naw. No excuse.
