"Academic embarrassments?" BloU maybe, but you might want to check the rankings for Texas. If we were coming alone we'd give the SEC a bump, but with bloU coming with us it's about break even.

The only reason the Pac passed (other than being dumbasses, look where they are now) was because of LHN. In fact we'd still be in the Big 12 now if ESPN doesn't work out a deal to end LHN early so we could join the SEC. Of course we weren't just going to give up the $30+ mil per year from the LHN without adequate compensation, and neither the Big 12 or Pac could provide that with their tv rights package. The rest is history.

Edit- I see now you were talking about TTech and Okie Lite for academics. While true it's still dumb..the Pac would still be a P5 conference if they make that deal..nobody gives a frick about anything but the money football brings in.
