You can’t compare a TE to a QB. Hey I love Bowers as a player. I love to watch him play. He affects a defense in so many ways just as a decoy. You can’t compare a player that gets the ball on every play to a TE though. A QB handles the ball on every snap. As much as I love Bowers and I think Brock Bowers is the best player in CFB but Georgia could sit Bowers and still win. If you take Beck out of that lineup I don’t know If UGA would not lose a few games.

Bowers was just an off the cuff example. My overall point was that I don't want a committee to be decideing that X player is deemed to have [such and such] value while Y player has [other level] of value. That's a messy situation that they shoudln't be putting themselves in. The committee's job is to take the resumes of teams 1 through whatever and stack them up against each other and see which 4 are the best. Anything beyond that is asking for shenanigans.

Although I suppose it's not really worth any mental energy at this point considering this is the last year that it matters. From now on practically any P5 team with a known emblem on their helmet that doesn't suck out loud is getting in so who cares

Even though this benefitted Bama this year, I agree. However, this was in the currently agreed upon criteria whether you and I approve or not. There is a difference in not liking the criteria vs. claiming there is no justification.

I'm nearing this point too. This topic has been thoroughly discussed on this board. Let's see what next year brings

I agree with your point. I don’t want the committee to start evaluating players health either. I still believe that this was the public argument they used. Behind closed doors I think they put more stock into winning the SEC than the ACC. Several of the committee members have ACC ties so they do not wanna go out publicly and say the SEC is better at football than the ACC. Travis getting hurt was a convenient excuse.
