I can’t imagine Saban bowing out without there being a replacement ready to be installed smoothly. He’s not going to standby and watch the empire crumble.
but i've come around to this way of thinking - he's justifiably proud of what he's built and what happens after he leaves is important to him
another reason Saban >>>>>>> Bryant

You don’t think Bryant cared about what happened to his SCHOOL?
What are you.. 35?
Bryant loved the University and believe it or not, he loved the SEC.
He had a team ranked #1 in his final season.. it fell apart down the stretch.. partly because his health was bad. He immediately retired because he said , “it’s what’s best for Alabama”.

It rarely works out, and who the heck could fill Saban's shoes anyway? Kirby maybe? Sark maybe if he continues to have success? Why would either of them leave Georgia or Texas?
There's probably going to be more parity amongst the big programs now anyway with NIL, and it's going to be really hard to have a run like Saban did pre-NIL. I mean to build the kind of depth he enjoyed for years on the bench and keep it is going to be tough with NIL and transfer portal.
Maybe they can find a coach to keep them very competitive, but not as dominating as Saban's run..
