That's very interesting.

I believe we also thought transfers would lead to parity, but I don't think any of us thought that parity would be a step down from where we were previously.

It seems a lot of these guys in the portal are there for a reason, and very rarely do they statistically/significantly improve their new team. In other words, there aren't really any dominant teams that don't have flaws.

So to me these guys going all over the place have actually hurt the average product overall, and it may very well be related to what you're pointing out.

To add to this, a coach mentioned to me that one issue is different team cultures.

Not that any are bad per se, but now you've got new guys in the locker room from several different schools who have differing ideas of what's important (based on how they've already been coached).

It's much harder to get everyone to buy in cohesively as a result, as opposed to "well here's how I do it," because that one guy thinks he's going to the NFL, and his new coach doesn't understand.
