I would suggest that Fla State has a more storied history than Washington.

That's because you're probably no older than your thirties.

Bowden put FSU on the map nationally starting in 1980. Washington had played in eight Rose Bowls before that, the first being in 1923.

Fla State is 12th overall in winning percentage. That's tops in the ACC, behind only Alabama and Tennessee from the SEC, and behind only USC from the Pac.
Georgia and LSU are 13 and 14 on that list, btw.

Washington is 22nd.

Florida State is:
3-0 against Ohio State, 2-0 against USC, 2-1 against Michigan, 6-5 against Notre Dame, 6-2 against Nebraska, 1-1 against Penn State, and yes 0-3-1 against Alabama.
They've finished Top 5 in 17 AP polls, 18 Coach's polls, with 3 national titles. 3 Heismans. They had a stretch of 13 consecutive top 5 finishes from 1987 thru 2000.

Washington has played a lot longer, that's the only thing they have on FSU.
