his was not a populist revolt along the lines of Tennessee nuking the hiring of Greg Schiano in 2017. That was fueled by disingenuous character assassination that Volunteers fans employed with Schiano by invoking ties to the Penn State Jerry Sandusky scandal

Two things about this...the fans were using court recorded testimony to push back on a coach that they didn't think was a good fit culturally for their school. Offering him the position was a stupid move in the first place, and it lead to Tennessee firing AD John Currie. The testimony was later cleared by Penn State and Ohio State...but Schiano shouldn't have been put in that situation in the first place, because he should not have been offered the job by Currie.

Since then, Schiano's college head coaching record is 21-28. He has not had a single winning season since that debacle. So...although they went about it the wrong way...UT dodged a bullet when they didn't hire Schiano.

In this instance, A&M backers at least were honest about declaring that they don’t think Stoops is a good enough coach.

UT fans didn't think Schiano was a good enough coach (or a cultural fit)...and it turns out, they were correct. Time will tell if aTm is right about Stoops.
