quote:

I guess I don't understand why you are so hung up on percentages as it relates to people being killed in a public space where killings are not to be expected.

If only 100 people went to the mall and 6 were killed that'd be a major issue for you, but if 100,000 people went to the mall it's no biggie? The big picture here is 6 people were killed at the mall.

and waht you conveniently ignore is the type of people that go go that mall and the kidn of people pulling out their piece doing the shooting. It doesn't matter if there are 100 or 100K people at the mall, those shootings happened by a particular kind of person and that particualr kind of person is going ot be at the mall every day.

Call me crazy, but I don't think wondering "hmmm, there's been a half dozen murders at Lenox the last 6 months. Maybe I should do my shopping elsewhere" is the least bit pitiful. At all.

No my friend, if 10 million people go to a mall and one is murdered it is an issue for me. It would not keep me from going to that mall if I had a compelling reason to do so.

If 10 people go into a mall and 10 are murdered I am not going to be #11. There is no compelling reason I can think of to do so. If my Daughter is in that mall I have to assume she is either dead or a murderer...either way my going in is not going to help the situation.

If, however, a million go into that mall and 6 are murdered and I have a compelling reason to go into that mall I am not going to not do so because 6 people were murdered there because logically I am going to be pretty safe from being murdered at that mall. Could it happen? Absolutely. Is it likely? Not at all.

what you're saying does make some sense but I think is missing the larger point that I mentioned earlier.

I would not expect to see a grown man barking when I'm in my local publix. It woudl be shocking and honestly a bit confusing. If I were to see the same grown man barking in sanford stadium it would not be confusing in the slightest. Setting and context matters.

Lenox is largely inhabited by young urban peopel taht aren't actually rich enough for phipps. It's for people that want to flex on social media and be seen. It also, apparently, attracts the type of person that feels they need a gun to go shopping. Your odds of someone being disrespected and wanting to pop off are much higher in that setting than they would be elsewhere, even at a differnet mall.

I used to go to Norhtlake mall off Briarcliff jsut for conveneience and wouldn't ever think twice abotu it. If not there I'd go to permieter mall because it's nicer and has more stuff and again, never thoguht twice. Northlake and permiter simploy have a differnet kind of shopper than lenox does. To say one is more dangerous than the others is simply fact and I don't think it's pitiful to recognize that.
