It's not mid season. And he's had 4 seasons to prove he's above mediocre.

It is still the regular season. I say mid-season because we are still in the middle of the season. You can squabble over semantics, but whatever you call it it, coaches are still coaching. No one is going to bolt from their current position while the season is still underway. They won’t even have an official interview most likely.

If Arkansas fires him now, and they haven’t already lined something up through backchannels, this is a recipe for disaster. You will lose your recruiting class. You will have a frustrating coaching search. Arkansas football will take a step backwards. And that seems to be exactly what is happening.

Downvote and squabble, but firing him now with zero plan is just idiotic. Maybe they already have their guy lined up. But more likely not.

You had winning seasons the last two years. You could do a lot worse. I am afraid you are about to find that out the Danny Ford, John L. Smith, or Chad Morris way.

I may be wrong. But past performance is the best indicator of future performance. And Arkansas coaching searches have been ugly since Houston Nutt resigned. Since 2011, 12 seasons, Arkansas has had 4 different coaches. It is hard to build a program with a new coach every three years on average. In those past 12 years Arkansas has had a winning record 5 times. Bielema had three of them in five seasons. Pittman has had two of them in four seasons. And in those past 12 season, Arkansas has had one 9 win season. The coach that did it was Sam Pittman.

I actually like Arkansas. That is why I hate to see them do something stupid. But y’all will do what you do.

I just think y’all need to be realistic. Bobby Petrino was your most successful coach since joining the SEC. But he still only had winning seasons 3 out of 4 years. And his behavior left your program in shambles that led to the last 12 years. Before that, Houston Nutt was very successful. In 10 seasons he won two SEC west titles. And he was .500 or below 3 seasons. In 2004 he went 5-6. In 2005 he went 4-7. Y’all would have fired him today. The next year he won the SEC west.

If Arkansas starts firing coaches mid season after one losing season, they are doomed to keep repeating the last 12 years. Or worse.
