LSU has you are correct actually played Bama better in Tuscaloosa. But facts are facts, Bama is the betting favorite. Vegas has it LSU +3, Josh Pate, who has a great show has it Bama +5. So 3 to 5 points is where Bama is regarding being the favorite. LSU is the dawg in this matchup just like LSU has been in every game starting in 2008 (Saban's 2nd year). The average for 2008 to 2022 was Bama -11. This line is not in line with the historic mean.

For some context, the last time Bama was -3 against LSU was the BCS rematch game, we all know how that turned out. On the other hand, LSU was +13.5 last year and won.
