The Griffen had the worst defensive rating came from Evan Miya. I haven't actually seen it, but it's been quoted in different places, i think I saw it on Reddit first, and it's since made the rounds.

But considering he was guarding an opponents best scorer every night, I'd expect his rating to suffer because of that. He's not perfect, but he plays his defense. Numbers can tell your a lot, but won't tell you everything. That's why Pannone watches 60 hours of film on our top targets.

That said, Youngblood seems to be a fantastic replacement, and he was on a good team. And USF fans I've read are cheering for him, but aren't salty at all, they just loved him as a player.

Mallette also seems to fit the offensive formula perfectly, though I'm not familiar with his defense. But with a fast as we snatched him after he entered, and the due diligence our staff is famous for, I'm confident he'll be solid.

He was guarding the opponents best guard because he was our only guard with any length and rarely did he stop them. When we won it was usually because we outscored people. Our defensive numbers were actually better when Rylan wasnt in the game, which was surprising to me too when I saw it.

Next year we’ll have a lot more length, that matters a lot when it comes to defense. When we had a top 3 defense the Brandon Miller year we had a lot of length, Uconn had a lot of length last year, I think their shortest starting guard was 6’4.
