The rule is simple. The ref has judgement to deem whatever they like as an invalid fair catch. It isn’t defined. Almost everyone agrees what happened in the two games yesterday shouldn’t have been deemed as invalid fair catch signals

You aren’t as smart as you think you are, everyone perfectly understands the rule

I wonder if people have considered the effects an invalid fair catch motion could have on the kicking team. Those effects just might be the reason that there is a distinction between valid signaling and invalid signaling.
