His grift was obtaining votes built out of lies to a large number of people who have been screwed over for decades and desperate enough to believe anything if it sounds right

Simple question from a simple mind.. if he's so establishment, then why does the establishment try to destroy him at every turn? If he were secretly in backrooms making establishment deals that establishment liked, they would be supporting him, no?
