This definitely was attempted, CBS presumably offered less. Fox is already in bed with the B1G, so not sure they would’ve jumped in. That leaves NBC who is doing a single game a week of B1G in addition to their Notre Dame deal.

None of those options have the distribution reach of ABC + ESPN. Fox could get close enough probably, but once again, we have no idea if they would be willing to go in on the SEC after putting their eggs in the B1G basket.

no it wasnt attempted. could have broken GOTW, then the next best 2 then a 3rd and 4th tier just like Big10 did

this the same bullshite that he attempted with the playoffs. wanted to just extend the contract and let espn have it instead of doing like the nfl and big10 have done in breaking it out and letting multiple companies to big on it.

It absolutely was, the SEC and CBS negotiated. CBS’s offer was viewed as inferior for whatever reason by the SEC schools who approved the contact with ABC/ESPN.

You are assuming Fox and NBC wanted SEC inventory at a competitive price vs what they decided to do by sticking with Midwest schools that aligned with what those networks were already doing.
