Do you think Nick Marshall would have looked good as Georgia's QB in 2011? Because I genuinely do not.
No idea. Probably not because the system was not right for him now. Most dont know but when he was a senior in HS in the state of Georgia, Nick Marshall smashed half the passing records in the state.
Nick Marshall was what he was at Auburn because of the system he was in fit his skills perfectly. It is also why he is not playing quarterback in the CFL, NFL or whatever. Perfect system for him and he made the most of it,
But look back at the quarterback projects we have had the every year, XYX coach is coming in and is going to turn him into a D1 QB. Has no happened yet. Its not coaching, its talent. Or the lack of it.
You know why Georgia has so many good quarterbacks come through there. Its because they recruit great quarterback candidates and they come in skilled.
Not JF3, Keihl Frazier, Cody Burns, Robby Ashford or the Joey Gatewoods of the world. Who could not even play for his own high school.
The majority of the time, you are not going to coach up a quy who just is not a QB to be a D1 qb. IF its not obvious by now, it never will be.
Yes I understand the Nick M term but that was certainly a special circumstance. I dont personally give Gus credit for the skills of Marshall. I give him credit for putting him in the right system and letting him play
Robby Ashford is Never, NEVER going to be a sucessful D1 quarterback at this level. Same as the other projects we have had
We need to recruit some guys who we dont have to transform

I just honestly still think the jury is out on Ashford and Thorne too for that matter. I am definitely very skeptical of Ashford but I am not positive he should be lumped in with that project group yet. I viewed NM and even Cam as projects when they showed up and then one day they weren't.

Louisville TE Joey Gatewood had 1 catch for 34 yards/TD as Louisville stomped Murray St. tonight 56-0. Joey!
