Their strength and conditioning program is terrible. Players have said they had it harder in high school workouts. He won’t let them be physical in practice very much because he’s afraid to get his offensive players hurt. That leaves the defense soft, can’t tackle, and are not as big and strong as they should be. He doesn’t discipline his stars so they do what they want. If they don’t feel like working out then they just skip it.

This is all true. When Schmitty came back he was walking though the weight room with some players and asked what those "rubber band thingies are". When they told him it was part of their S&C under Riley...

His reply: "Well I'll tell you what we're gonna do. We're gonna throw all this P90X shite in the f*cking trashcan right now".... and he proceeded to do precisely that.

That sucks and isn’t surprising based on his body of work. I’d be mad if I was a fan of his program bc it isn’t like he can’t bring in talent that could succeed under good coaching. S&C has become so much more important(in addition to needing to check the other boxes that you mentioned).
