How is this possible with a running clock? I can't imagine what the Eagle's Landing coach tells his team.

Is that what you would tell the Coach of the other team to his face and then give him suggestions on how to coach a defense against a team that far far exceeds your talent?

I haven’t watched any HS football until my oldest started playing on varsity and the talent differential between teams…even at 5A schools …is wild. You take one or two legit D1 prospects in skill positions and they’re damn near unstoppable for regular kids.

Also, when coaches get behind they start going for it on every fourth down, trying onsides kicks, throwing, etc. so the better team gets a short field a lot and it snowballs.

I can also imagine the winning team has kids trying to get scholarship offers and it doesn't do them any good to keep them on the bench and stifle their numbers in the name of sportsmanship.

Unfortunately coaches have to balance stats, ego, and injury avoidance.
