I'm not defending the guilty parties in this particular instance.

I am actually acutely aware of national crime statistics and while they have crept up over the last 3 years they are significantly lower than they averaged over the last 50 years and way significantly lower than they averaged over the last 100 years. They are, having crept up recently, still lower this year than any year on record prior to 1996. Given that the vast majority of Americans THINK crime is waaaaaaayyyyyy up since 2020 the fact is that crime is only up about .39%% since 2020. Given that Police agencies across the board found some opposition to their funding starting in 2020 it should not come as any surprise that there is, at least, an uptick in crimes being reported by those agencies...but regardless of where the numbers are coming from they aren't nearly as sinister as some seem to believe (I almost wrote "think" but I doubt there is much thinking going on on this issue). Anyone who is convinced crime is sky rocketing is probably more in need of advice to find outlets of information that provide actual FACTS, like the FBI, and not news, like CNN and Fox and MSNBC....
