Who do you think will be a surprise to make an impact on offense and defense this year?

My pick on offense is Daijun Edwards.

My pick on defense is Jordan Hall.

I think injury bug reaches up and bites Milton again, so Edwards gets the carries with Branson Robinson stepping in at #2.

I realize Jordan Hall is a highly rated player, but he is a freshman. I think he steps in and plays a pivotal role.

Honorable mentions:
Offense-Branson Robinson
Defense-AJ Harris

Just based on players who may (or may not have) played last season but did not play a central role.

Offense- I guess Lovett isn't really a legit answer based on his credentials and he's not really a new guy. It sounds like Mews is a guy everyone forgot or ignored other than some Gday love but apparently is lighting it up so I'll go him

Defense- Jordan Hall as you said or one of those young buck OLBs. Chambliss's spot is the only area of any concern to me and I have a feeling one of those studs are going to start eating into the PT soon.

Mews

Somebody said he was a walk on. This isn't correct, is it? I thought he got a scholarship?

I was thinking of putting Raylen (or Damon, for that matter) Wilson in there for the same reasons you stated.

Gotta admit..this surprises me. You think he will make a bigger impact than the Robinsons, and Edwards?
At the moment we have 4 RBs ahead of him.,,maybe 5 counting Paul.

The OP said surprise. It will not be a surprise for Edwards or B Robinson to contribute. Kirby has given him praise as “the fastest guy” and “strongest guy pound for pound”

Ingram-Dawkins will be less surprised but more if/when he gets more opportunities.

Daijun was my pick last year. Although this year may be his year.

However, in similar topics this year since the spring game I have said Mews, and I have no reason to change my answer (Monty Hall would disagree) so I'll stick with Mews for this season.

We have two B Robinsons, we need to find a way to delineate the two with some nick names.

You are right. But i said make an impact. I probably should have been more clear.

You are correct, Edwards will definitely contribute. I think he could end up being the RB with the most rushing yards at the end of the season. Initially I would think if Milton goes down it would be Branson Robinson, but after seeing Edwards last season he could be a huge impact player, imo.

That is the key, and i think you could be right, that Ingram-Dawkins could move in and make a big impact by taking over a spot.

I always kind of considered him as a piece player getting a few situational carries, but I think you nailed it. He is more than that.

I thought about him, and it is a good pick. My thought was with all of the WRs we have, he might not get the opportunity this year. I liked what I saw of Bell last season, though.

Yeah worried about snaps for him but I think they sneak him in a good bit. Kirby likes those types.

They put him in some key situations last season and he came though. A few years ago we had a lot of injuries in our WR room. If that happens again, I think he could easily get enough touches to make an impact. The coaches seemed to like him and trust him.

Offense: MRJS… Something tells me he’s gonna have a big year.

Defense: Jalon Walker looked like a got damn beast with limited action last year.

Honorable Mention: Delp at TE. With Big 0 gone, he’s gonna have to step up. With all the attention Bowers and our WR’s receive, something tells me he’s gonna get an opportunity to catch some balls.

Honorable Mention D: Damon Wilson. Kirby said once he “gets it” he’s gonna be a really good football player.

Since no one has said his name...
I will go Warren Brinson. As of this minute, he is still the starter at 3T.

I'm not expecting Jalen Carter production. But he gets overlooked because he isn't #88.

On offense, is Arian Smith still available? 12 catches total in 3 seasons. 7 catches last year.
Let me know if he doesn't qualify.

Is Mews the guy that was running all over the place but looked like he was going to pull a hammy at any moment?

Offense I’ll go with Delp as he’s likely next man up at TE. And defense I’ll say Aguero because I think he’ll replace Tykee as the starter at star fairly early in the season. Also under the radar Christen Miller.

I thought about both Brinson and A Smith.

Brinson will start so I felt like he wouldn’t be a good pick here. He’s going to have a great season!

A Smith has been around for 4 years so I didn’t pick him. He’s always done what he does best with speed.
