This is the damn truth. I read an article recently on the guy most of us know as Uncle Fester from the Addams Family. Turns out though that he was actually the biggest childstar on the planet and probably the very first child superstar.

He was tabbed by Charlie Chaplin to play the kid in the film "The Kid" (1921), America and the world fell in love and his face was on everything from ads to lunchboxes. He kept working and his parents socked away the cash in a trust that he couldn't touch until he turned 21.

Well... right around that time. He, his best friend and his dad go on a hunting trip and his father and best friend die in a car crash that happens on their way back (it nearly kills him too). Meanwhile, his mom remarries within a year to his agent. And when he turns 21 and asks for his money they tell him 'no.' While he eventually sued for recovery, they went on a spending spree. This was millions in the 40s.

By the time it's settled there's barely anything left at all. And that was from his own mother and step-father.

Its pretty common...similar situation happened to Beretta....the actor, cant recall his name.

Watch the Amy Winehouse doc...her "father" may be most despicable person to ever exploit their child...she even made a cry for help in one of her hits, writing "And if my Daddy thinks I'm fine" in a song about some of the people in her circle suggesting she might need to go to rehab. Her father flat out told her doing so would be a mistake...and she died shortly after. It is very common...
