re: Suggestions

This is her time to develop lifetime social skills and some lifelong friends. Encourage her to approach one or two people and introduce herself and ask them to join her for coffee or a coke and get to know them. That will lead to meeting other people these people know. I wish her the best and hope she has a great time and gets a good education.
