I'm not against more conference games. I'd love if we got to play only a conference schedule and just played 15 games.
But the logic I saw that got the idea squashed at the SEC meetings was that the SEC has the most watched product in college football with a TV contract that is already agreed upon. So they won't add the extra game and give the networks an extra 8 games without being compensated for it. The current contract will either have to be re-done, or they will add a 9th game when the new TV deal is done and negotiate the price from there.
I get it that the SEC doesn't want to give away its product for free, but from a fan perspective, it kinda sucks.
