I have never understood the hype and respect given to this guy. He is by far the most overrated coach in the SEC, probably in the country.
What has this guy done beside put WVU on the map? Seriously, he beat Hawaii??
Does this season prove he is highly overrated? Most of us understood that it was probably gonna be a down year for the tigers, but this guy had what was supposed to be the cream of the SEC returning.

This is not about Miles. There are a hundred threads on what you think about the guy.

This is to point out that Richt has FAILED on a massive level this year and has had one great season and zero national title games but yet he is supposed to be one of the top 3 or so coaches in the game.

Hopefully this one does not get anchored.

He also was humiliated twice in the same season he was supposed to contend for a national title.
He would have also lost to a bad LSU team had it not been for J pick 6 L.

He had a 1 loss team in '02 and there just happened to be 2 undefeateds. Last year, he had one of the best teams in the country yet lost a tiebreaker so UGA couldn't play in the SECCG.

......and what about this year?

Everyone agreed that he had one of the most talented and best teams before the season started (so much so that they were actually ranked #1 to begin the year). Where was all that talent and that great team when they were destroyed by Bama in their own house and then by Florida at the Cocktail?

There is not one word of my post that qualifies as dumb. The facts are he has had one really good season, has not even been to a national title game and has FAILED fricking miserably this year.

He has been absolutely HUMILIATED during a year in which he was supposed to contend for a national title.

Jarett Pick 6 Lee is our quarterback. He gave Richt the game this year.

What exactly has Richt done that makes him great?? Seriously, he lost to WVU in one of his 2 "great" seasons. Since 2002 he has been a decent coach at best.

I laugh at your definition of decent.

So he had one of the best teams in the country but 'lost' a tiebreaker. You lose games to have to lose a tiebreaker. Again, he did NOT get the job done.

I wasn't debating you, or else I would have elaborated a little bit more.

If you consider Georgia's teams to be decent from 2003-2008, then I can not imagine the unrealistic expectations you must have.

Is the guy a good coach? Sure he is.

But in many coaching polls he is looked at as #1 in the SEC and top 3 in the country. This is why I am bagging on him.

He has not earned that type of credit to be given top 3 status. He is a legit top 10 coach, but he is surely not tops in the SEC or in the country.

I think most of the media felt this way after the run last year. I don't think Richt is overrated. He is a good coach and even better guy. That being said, he is a solid SEC coach. Not elite, but solid.

I agree. I was not trying to say the guy sucks, but he is given way too much credit as being elite and he has not earned it.

I think this year has hopefully exposed that to some degree.

I disagree. Had UGA been able to stay healthy, I think that they could have beaten us or Florida.

But if my aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle, so it's a moot point.
