Just reminds football fans that ALABAMA is to SEC football what Kentucky is to SEC basketball.

Both programs are just historically so far in front of any SEC contender that they just become SEC pretenders.

Hey man, we're discussing if there is a consensus #2 football program in SEC history in this thread. It's in the subject of the OP.

I'm happy for you that Bama has been a good football team for a long time, but if you can't stick to the topic, go have too much Bama in ya somewhere else.

Then try to pay attention. The discussion has caused me to realize that BAMA is just so much better historically than whatever team measures up to number 2.

I just love it when a good stat line and the truth come together.

The OP got derailed & sidetracked to the point that an Auburn poster is peppering the thread with Big 6 discussions.

Is there a consensus #2 football program in the SEC historically?

The fact that the Vols relinquished their #2 position because they slipped to the depths of hell for 15 yrs while other programs (LSU/UGA) have had the best years in their program's history in the same time frame makes it difficult to determine.
