1939- Went Undefeated regular season, did not tie anyone, and did not give up a point. 10 consecutive shutouts. Finished #2

How can a team be sandwich between 2 national champ teams and not allow a point and finish #2.

Because Tennessee did not play
quote:

Tulane- finished 8-1-1
Georgia Tech- 8-2
Miss State - 8-2
Ole Miss - 7-2

and had this as a schedule

@ NC State - 2-8
Sewanee - 3-5
@ Chattanooga - 5-2-1
Alabama - 5-3-1
Mercer - 3-7
@ LSU - 4-5
The Citadel - 3-8
Vanderbilt - 2-7-2
@ Kentucky 6-2-1
Auburn - 5-5-1

38-52-6

Meanwhile A&M had

@ Oklahoma A&M (State) - 5-4-1
Centenary - 2-9-1
@ Santa Clara - 5-1-3
vs Villanova - 6-2 (in Tyler, Tx at Rose Festival Classic)
@ TCU - 3-7
Baylor - 7-3
@ Arkansas - 4-5-1
SMU - 6-3-1
@ Rice - 1-9-1
Texas - 5-4

44-47-8

Finally, Tennessee lost 14-0 to USC in the Rose Bowl while A&M beat Tulane 14-13 in the Sugar Bowl further cementing A&M as the better team. Sorry. Tenner's claim is not legit.
