Texas high school football teams can participate in something called 7 on 7 football. There is no contact and teams do not have linemen. Teams qualify by participating in tournaments held across the state. The championship is held annually in College Station. It is basically all offense and regular coaches can watch but not coach.

Do other schools across the South do that?

Imo, the glorification of 7 on 7 in TX high school is what has led to a softer brand of linemen, LB's and the running game compared to other regions.

Sure this culture creates some great QB's, receivers and DB's but at what cost?

Naw. We like linemen here in the 'Sip. Give them big boys a chance to play.

We don’t have state championships but we have local, regional, and national competitions in Georgia.

These things are a waste of time. I’ve seen teams win regional championships and then have a losing record in the fall.
