Alabama beat unranked Texas with a reigning Heisman winner by a last second FG

And yep, Alabama brought their own air conditioning too!

UGA beat them in the 1984 Cotton Bowl. Had Texas won they’d have been the NC. UGA was ranked 7th at game time, Texas 2nd. Texas and Nebraska were the only undefeated teams heading into NYD.

Later that night #5 Miami beat #1 Nebraska by 1 point. Miami ended up getting the NC at 11-1. Texas finished 5th, also 11-1. UGA was 4th at 10-1-1
