It’s called an Interdisciplinary Studies degree at UGA: A student with academic interests for which no suitable major is offered by any single department in the College of Arts and Sciences may pursue an Interdisciplinary Studies (IDS) major. An IDS major plans a program of study and fourth-year thesis with a faculty advisor and an advisory committee, who are chosen by the student and the IDS Coordinator. The Interdisciplinary Studies major consists of a minimum of 24 hours of courses plus a Fourth-year Thesis (3 hours) on a topic of special interest. At least 15 hours of the major must be drawn from departments within the College of Arts and Sciences.

Well aware, but they don’t just award it to someone because they got a certain number of credit hours. If you are seeking a degree and change majors late in your career, especially to a different college like say A&S to Business or vice versa, you will end up with lots of “unused” credits.
