Why are Mizzou fans so obsessed with what the ACC is doing? There was another thread the other day by a Mizzou fan discussing this subject...who also used taternet as a reference. (And as I said in that thread...lmmfao at using that dump as a reference)

Yes, this thread is Germans. But I don't think two total threads makes Mizzou "so obsessed" You can't wade through college football boards right now without getting snagged by ACC collapse rumors. I will concede that I think Mizzou fans are more alert to realignment news than the average SEC fan since our conference of 100 years was the subject of constant realignment rumors for several years before effectively collapsing. That's still fresh in most of our minds and it's still weird to me that we will never play Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa State, Kansas State, and the Oklahoma schools as our conference schedule again.

I get this as an Arkansas fan. Because for a decade or so I think we knew the SWC was on a death watch. Too many teams on probation. Too small a market. Frank Broyles certainly knew the end was, to borrow a line, "very fricking nigh."

We reached out to the Big 8 and the SEC and the SEC was more than happy to listen. I do wonder what would have happened had Arkansas gone to the Big 8. It might have helped keep the conference HQ in Kansas City, and offset the power bloc of the Texas teams.

Regardless, I think Missouri, Arkansas, South Carolina, and to a lesser extent A&M are more sensitive to rumors of realignment because we've been there. All of us have had to think about... "what if this game of musical chairs ends with us in a glorified version of the Sunbelt?"
