Leah Vann has your answer:

Cliff notes:
There is a 3 day window for a 3 game series per SEC rules.
These are student-athletes.

quote:

You’ve got to remember these are 18-21 year old student-athletes playing a 56-game regular season. They have exams, homework and class. They’ve been gone since Wednesday and have work to make up. On top of that, Sunday is Easter. These are not professional athletes— even with NIL. This is not the MLB.

quote:

A friendly reminder that this isn’t football and that LSU has 18 games left of Southeastern Conference regular series games BEFORE the tournament.

A lot can happen, so not playing a game or losing a single game in a series is not reason to panic.

Calm your tits, in other words.

As for "why couldn't they play 2 yesterday?"
Per the observed weather last night, the 2nd game would have been a washout anyway:

The only way 3 games were getting played was if they had played a doubleheader on Thursday or agreed to play a doubleheader starting at the asscrack of dawn on Friday.

It's a regular season series in April. 2 out of 3 were played and we split. It's fine. I don't see either team or coach complaining about it.

I grew up watching LSU baseball play on Easter Sunday.
