My home-town boy Mondon looks like he's ready for an All-American year.

Mondon is from Dallas, where I live. When I was pastoring some kids in my church went to Highschool with him. They told me he was the most incredible athlete to come out of Paulding county that even the coaches could remember. I spoke with a friend of mine that was the coach at another highschool but knew Mondon pretty well and he also knew Chris Conley (WR) pretty well when he played for North Paulding. He said Mondon was a better overall athlete than Conley and he guaranteed me that Mondon would have been able to outrun Conley in the 40 even though he's about 30 lbs bigger. That might be an exaggeration, Conley was pretty swift from what I remember, but Mondon is definitely a beast.
I said before the season started last year if he can get and stay healthy he's gonna go down as one of our all-time greats at LB.

You are a pastor in Paulding County? What church, if you don't mind my asking?
ETA
After thinking I realize that might give your identity away, so if you don't want to answer I can understand. My son, his wife and three boys lived in Paulding County for awhile. They have moved to Carrollton, but was active in their church in Paulding for a bit.

Gotcha. He and his wife really liked the church. My wife and i are active at our church, but when our grandson was baptized we went to Westridge. They are pretty contemporary, but we liked it. We attend First Baptist Jonesboro. Mel Blackaby is the pastor and Dan and Cindy Cathey (Chick-Fil-A) attend there. Truett Cathey attended there before he passed away.

I’ll bet you know a man named Doug at Jonesboro. Short. Bald. Goatee. Works in lighting or sound. He’s been there forever.

I was fortunate enough to attend a practice earlier in the Spring, and Mondon was jaw dropping at times.
Was making insane plays in terms of reading, reacting, and then deploying lightning speed to turn a sure-fire gain into a TFL. And he was doing that against the first team offense.
Also, seeing the players from the sideline is so vastly different than from the stands in Sanford/MBS. I hadn't stood on a field like that since high school football, and the level of size, speed, and talent is simply disgusting.
