Pete is#1. End of discussion.

No doubt in any measure.

I’d love to see a shot chart of Pete’s career at LSU. Curious how many 3 point distance shots he took. Back in the pre-3 point day, the only time the floor was spread was at the end of the game with the four corners offenses. When you’re averaging 44 a game, you’re making a lot of shots from a multitude of distances.

Kudos to the runner up scoring guy. But his career is really no comparison to Pistol Pete’s. Five years versus 3 is all the argument you need to dismiss the debate. Intellectual gymnastics trying to put the two careers in the same context.

Even in a four year career, one would have to AVERAGE 33 a game to match Pete.
99% of players never score 33 in even a single game.

It’s Pete’s crown and scoring champ discussion is not even good bar talk until some freshman debuts averaging high 20s or better, and playing in a league where 4 years’ accumulation is common, even for the superstars in that division.

588 of those points came on 3s. As we all know the 3 point shot wasn't around when Maravich played. Take away those points and he's 592 shy of Pete.
