Why was Bama AD upset at Oats’ “Wong place wrong time” statement?

If Brandon Miller didn’t know the gun was in his car (lol)
If Brandon Miller didn’t read the text (lol)
Then he was in fact in the wrong place at the wrong time. So why did Bama AD Greg Byrne say this about Oats’ “wrong place wrong time” statement?
“He had not been updated on his way into the press conference. He obviously didn’t help himself. We talked, he’s remorseful for that and we’ve dealt with that.“

Because it came across as callous on the heels of a hearing that hashed out a tragedy.

If it’s true, then that should be able to be explicitly stated in order to justify Miller’s continued participation with the University. Hell, it MUST be stated to justify Alabama’s actions.
Byrne was upset because he knew that they didn't have the FACTS to back it up.
Byrne was upset because that undermined his unethical strategy of feigning ignorance.
We all know Bama is effectively covering this up by failing to reveal or ask into Miller’s true involvement with the murder.

I watched the game between yall yesterday, and couldn't help but wonder if it'd just been some walk-on, or nameless friend of the guy, instead of the star player of the team that's ranked 2nd in the nation, what would be done? How does he have any plausible deniability if he brought the gun to the place the murderer would pick it up at in his own vehicle under his own free will? That's the part I'm not understanding. This petty shite between fanbases is temporary, but this woman's life was taken. I think a large portion of the Bama fan base either doesn't give a shite or is content with the fact just because Brandon Miller is good at basketball, and that's wrong.

Plausible deniability happens when the guy whose gun it is handed his gun to a third party, and that third party committed a crime.
Miller didn’t hand the gun to the shooter. He brought it to Miles, who then inexplicably handed it to another guy who got into a shootout.

Go read the Bama board thread on the shooting when they didn’t know Miller was involved. It will answer all your questions. “If he was driving the shooter, throw him under the jail.”
