Went to numerous double headers in Jackson in the 1970’s and 80’s. My Dad had two friends who set up their travel trailers on Friday afternoon and would stay until Sunday morning. It was about a stone’s throw to the stadium.

We always had a blast. I think one year State-Florida played the afternoon game and Ole Miss - Arkansas played the night cap.

Another year, State played in the afternoon and OM played USM that night.

Saw Jerry Clower several times throughout the years (he and my Dad were friends). In 1982 met a young Haley Barbour when no one knew him. Because of rainstorm came up he sat in our trailer for about a hour talking about all kinds of things. He was running for Senator against John Stennis that year.

Great memories but am glad all the games are on campus nowadays. Jackson served its purpose during that time.
