More than just the Mississippi schools

When I was younger West Virginia was way more hostile than the South


In simple terms, growing up

Northerns like the race but hate the person.
Southerners hate the race but like the person.

I was at funerals in the 60's when black and white were both bawlin their eyes out when they lost a Bubba (black or white). In the North they hated the Irish the most but lots of friends up there never seemed to have a single black person they actually knew. Sorta surreal. I have been to Iowa many times and can never remember seeing a single black person there. Indiana had the biggest KKK in the history of the KKK and basketball games there were not exactly warm and cuddly when a black player was involved.
