Steele isn't going to scheme up medicore or bad talent, but he's pretty solid at putting really good talent in the right places and getting them to do simple jobs well and do them without thinking.....which was a major problem for us the last few years.

I'd imagine that's why he was on Saban's list, even if he was 3-4 names down it. I'm sure the top couple guys were experienced guys who both had the play fast and fundamental AND could mix stuff up a little more, but we didn't get them. So when it came to the next group, he clearly wanted this and not super smart Xs and Os coach who might not be very good at communicating that well. It's not exciting and it might not work, but that's pretty clearly the thought process.
