Gibbs was a highly-coveted safety out of Grayson High School in Loganville, Ga. He picked Georgia and arrived as the No. 49 overall player in the class, ranked ahead of the likes of future starters such as Monty Rice, Eric Stokes and Stetson Bennett.

But Gibbs couldn’t crack the field at Georgia and ended up transferring to Tennessee following the 2018 season. He played in 13 games for Georgia and racked up 10 tackles over his two seasons in Athens.

He converted to wide receiver at Tennessee but never played in a game for the Volunteers. He sat out the 2019 season due to transfer restrictions at the time and then sat out the 2020 season to focus on his academics. He entered the transfer portal in May of 2022 and did not play anywhere this past season.

That's easily the weirdest NSD story I've seen in a while.
