What was the level of competition for USC back in the 70's? For LSU in the 90'2000's ? Plus, in addition to LSU's 6 national titles, LSU was runner up 6 times as well.

Competition was better IMO. A lot of talent made it to campuses across the country that would have never considered it in this era.

LSU has been runner-up only ONCE -- in 2017 to Florida, not 6 times.

USC has been runner-up TWICE -- in 1960 to Minnesota and in 1995 to Cal-State Fullerton.

The level of competition then was equal to today's.

USC won 5 straight CWS 1970-1974, and 6 of 7 CWS including the 1968 title, which is unprecedented in college baseball history.
