RIP Ort. I was in Athens from 90-95 and he was always downtown hanging out in front of the Georgia Theater or 40 Watt. The first time I met him I was with one of my eccentric friends who was really into music but looked like a frat guy. He went up to talk to Ort and wanted to get insight on Athens Inside out. Ort kind of looked at him and said "it's half past the hour of frat boys" like he wasn't cool enough to talk to him. I talked to him later on from time to time and he was a bit friendlier. He always had an interesting perspective.

Once he became a local celeb, he didn't like being hounded. He's the kind of guy you just sit down next to, order your beer, and wait for him to start talking. And he would. He's a talker. If you sit down and say "You're Ort! Tell me a story!" he would dismiss you.
