I get that - but that was back when he had a job as the DC at Wisconsin currently and was saying no to other opportunities (along with a eye towards possibly being able to land the HC job or a job with the Packers).

He does not have that job anymore and was passed over for the Wisconsin HC job, which is no longer an option in the near future. His last hope to fulfill that was DC of the Packers, and that appears to also be closed.

That doesn't mean I think he comes here, but I do think he ends up coaching somewhere outside of the state of Wisconsin next fall. If the only goal was staying in Wisconsin he would have stayed there at DC, IMHO.
