Brian Battie

Small framed running back. Rushed for over 1k yard one season for USF. When he first came up some kind of threw him in as a gadget back. From film I don’t see that all. He is a legit running back that runs between the tackles. Has a great 1 step cut both directions. Many people in the AU urn sphere have tried to compare him to Shaun Shivers I guess because of being so short. Very different running styles. Also many throw Battie in the speed back category but I wouldn’t. The one thing for me he does well is see the hole (vision) and doesn’t slow down when making cuts. He isn’t a burner even though you would think he would be at his size. In my opinion he was a much needed addition to the team. Hunter is clearly the favorite to start but behind him outside of Battie is basically zero experience. Alston has 14 carries last season. Battie also brings better pass protection than any on the roster before he was added. Hunter graded a 27 according to PFF in pass pro. My prediction for Battie is 2nd string and somewhere around 12 carries or 15 touches a game including special teams.

For comparison I wouldn’t compare him to Shivers I would say he’s more of a smaller Tre Mason.
