Low level bowls with 4-5 loss teams and opt outs galore are not a good litmus of the strength or weakness of a respective conference.

Florida lost convincingly in a bowl game to OR ST, went 6-7 this year. Yet somehow beat the Pac 12 champion in season with a full roster. You think that could have had something to do with 2 dozen guys in the portal and their QB opting out of their bowl game?

Ole Miss lost 5 of their last 6 games.

Missouri was a 6-6 team.

Auburn went 5-7 and fired their coach mid season.

The Big Ten has not faired well against the SEC in championship games. Ohio State has been abysmal. Michigan and Michigan State got blasted in the first round in their only appearances. It’s not that UM or OSU can’t or won’t win this year, but they haven't shown a propensity for it.

SEC teams are 14-5 in playoffs
Big 10 teams are 1-5 in playoffs

The SEC has won 5 NC by 3 different teams in the playoff era, 9 by 5 different teams in the BCS era
Big 10 has won 1 NC in playoff and 1 in BCS era by 1 team.

Also Aggregate recruiting rankings and NFL representation do paint a pretty clear picture that the SEC is the most talent rich conference by a wide margin and has been for a while.

Wins over NC State without their QB, 7-5 Oklahoma State, And a nose diving Syracuse team don’t offset this reality.

Ohio State has three wins, so not sure where you pulled that from.

>Talking about CFP wins

You’re not unreasonable but I’d say again that when talking about CFP wins you’re talking mostly about Alabama then Georgia and one year with LSU

I give you, in general, the SEC is probably better overall but I think it’s overstated. My point is that the rest of the teams in the SEC seem to ride the coattails of Alabama or whoever is good that year. I don’t ride Ohio State, I hope they’re never good, I never root for them to win — and if they do win I don’t take that to mean the Big Ten is any worse or better overall, just that Ohio State is.

I guess my main point is lots of people talk shite about teams like Iowa or Indians or whoever, and I think a lot of mid SEC teams that, in my mind are basically the same as those programs, get inflated AP rankings/reputations which leads to people saying the SEC is so much better than the Big Ten — I really don’t buy it.

I’m not saying Alabama in recent past, Georgia now, or LSU with Burrow weren’t the best teams in the country, clearly you guys usually have *the* best team most years — it just annoys me that because one of the teams is the best at any given time, people attribute that to the conference as a whole — you’ll have teams like A&M or Ole Miss way up in the rankings because they played some good teams close, and then they lose to some other team and that team goes up in the rankings etc — it’s all circular
