I understand what you are saying and it makes sense, but isn’t that exactly what Stetson Bennett did?

There are tons of kids that go into the portal every year.

If Vandegriff decides to transfer we will have two QB’s on scholarship. I can’t imagine us going into the season like that. Maybe we have a preferred walk on that is good enough? I don’t know. I would be surprised. (Or maybe I am forgetting something? Always possible)

First off, I don't see Vandagriff transferring in the summer.
No one is more animated and excited on the sidelines than Brock. He is an Athens kid. I see him competing until season's end if Gunner wins the job (2024 at the earliest).

Edit to add: if a QB transfers out after spring practice, the chances he starts at a new school in P5 3 months later are slim to none.

Secondly, juco transfers are different than portal transfers. Juco transfers never had to sit a year after transferring in.
If we get a portal kid in, the juco transfer would be comparable to the Dii or G5 kid who is just happy to be here (nonscholarship... most likely wanting connections for a coaching career).

Lastly, we have 6 roster QBs right now. Lose Stetson, and we probably offset him with a preferred walk on.
