Didn't LSU win the west? I'm pretty sure that was not clinched by beating Alabama and they needed to win another game to accomplish such...
He was referring to the inexplicable beat down from a horrible A&M team and the then losing one of the more lopsided SECC games since its inception. So yes LSU put it all on the line to beat Alabama because it means more to the team and the fanbase and then forgot to play the rest of the season.
The win to clinch was 13-10 the week prior against a very average Ark team. Proof that LSU plays Bama differently than other teams.
