How close was Kiffin to working for O at LSU?

Had he not got hired as head coach at FIU or wherever he went was he leaving us for his buddy? I don't know why this is even on my mind.

I very seriously doubt it. Kiffin's main goal at the time was getting another HC job, and he knows/knew it's much easier to do that when you are one of Saban's coaches than it would be as one of O's coaches. I don't see Kiffin being loyal enough to jeopardize his chance at being a HC just to go work for his "buddy" (if he even considers O his buddy).

Pretty sure it was basically a done deal until he got the FAU job. He certainly wasn’t going to be back at Alabama the following year.
