But it’s not the same. One was an inadvertent whistle, which by their own admission, nullified the play and whatever outcome there might’ve been.

So how then can you review a play that you just said, by rule, didn’t happen?

To be fair, Ole Miss got the call back when they didn’t give Dillon Johnson a touchdown when he touched the pylon with the ball

The exact same thing happens on every fumble that is initially ruled down by contact. Do you think they don’t blow a whistle on those plays? The “inadvertent whistle” didn’t happen before the events of the backwards pass and drop.
