Can anyone prove that extra bowl practices actually make a difference to a team’s performance?
Good question. Looks to be something that's sorta unprovable but I would guess most coaches like it.
It reminds me of the old "two-a-day" practices in fall camp. People did research on it and found that it doesn't help players learn or get better, so it was pointless and ultimately risked injury. A lot of coaches agreed that it was antiquated and needed to go, so the NCAA banned it.

You really want players who love to play football in the program.
I guess a first rounder should sit out, but getting more practice reps and playing at game speed have to help with development.
Not every golf tournament is the Masters, but guys compete every week.
IF bowls are worthless, teams should forfeit rest of season after third loss.

So more practices don’t help? Got it

Potential for injuries, limited motivation for players, learning schemes that likely will have no applicability going forward, etc.
But if the players vote to go, you go. They’ve earned it.

I have heard it is a huge deal when you have a new coach.
